Climbing Taliban Soup 5.11 at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Arkansas

I love watching my friends rock climb. I love even more when I get to capture them sending a project they have been working on for years. In this rock climbing video we get to see Jace Lane send Taliban Soup 5.11 at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Arkansas for the first time.

Horseshoe Canyon Ranch climbing is some of the best rock climbing in the midwest. Located just outside of Jasper, Arkansas, Horseshoe Canyon offers some of the best sandstone sport climbing east of the Rockies. In this video we're in the West Side routes on the Prophecy Wall on the sport route Taliban Soup 5.11.

Taliban Soup 5.11 is one of the classic sport climbing routes at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch having earned 3.5 stars on Mountain Project. The First Ascent was by Chad Watkins in 2007, I believe that's the correct year. The climb is roughly a 50 foot face climb on small but manageable crimps to a 20 foot roof. Thankfully there are jugs in the roof, but at this point the pump factor is real making clipping the chains quite possibly the crux of the route.

Jace found several rest spots on his climb of Taliban Soup 5.11, one half way up the face on a small ledge and one just before the roof, which allowed him to power through the roof and send the climb. If you're looking for Taliban Soup 5.11 beta, Jace may have cracked it!

This rock climbing video was filmed in 4k with my Sony a6400 camera and my DJI Mini 2 drone (operated by Jacob Beers). Edited in Premiere Pro.
