Bouldering at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch | Day 3

Day 3 was really half a day at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Arkansas. We woke up, had breakfast, packed up camp, and then headed to the North Forty Boulders. It was my first time bouldering on real rock and I’ve got to say I really enjoyed it. I’ve always preferred rope climbing to bouldering, but as I boulder more I’m really starting to see the beauty in it. And similar with ropes, it’s always more fun outside!

I have to admit I was pretty bad this day keeping track of all the boulders we climbed. I think that’s because you’re moving so fast, well Meg and Ryan were, I am definitely slower. So I’m not exactly sure which routes in these photos are which. I’m sorry. I will try my best to mark the boulders, but don’t hold me to it!

While we were out bouldering we meet Chris Kiefer who was working on a very cool project. It happened to be his 40th birthday that day so his goal was to climb 40 boulders on his 40th. I’m happy to report he did it! Very cool meeting Chris and witnessing that accomplishment. Here’s to 60 on 60.

My first rock climbing trip to Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Arkansas was a stellar experience. It’s such a beautiful location and some of the best midwest rocking climbing available. Again, I’m so grateful to Ryan and Meg for letting me tag along and snap all the photos of them. I can wait to get back!
